Privacy Policy

This page explains what information this website collects, why, and what rights you have over it — written in plain language, not dense legal text.

Last updated: July 2026

Quick summary: This site collects contact-form submissions, standard analytics (page views, general location, device type), and — only if you choose to sign in to use the AI Tools or Ask the Architect features — your email address and sign-in method. Nothing collected here is sold, and nothing is used for advertising.

📋 1. Information I Collect

Depending on how you use this site, the following information may be collected:

WhereWhat's collected
Browsing the site generallyStandard analytics via Google Analytics — pages viewed, approximate location (country/city level), device/browser type, referring site. No name or email is collected just from browsing.
Contact formName, email address, company (optional), enquiry type, and your message.
Copyright disclaimer (site-wide)A record that you agreed to the terms, tied to your browser — no personal data beyond a timestamp, unless you separately sign in.
Signing in to AI Tools / Ask the ArchitectYour email address, the sign-in method used (Google, Microsoft, LinkedIn, or direct email), and the time you signed in.
Using an AI Tool or Ask the ArchitectThe question or inputs you type are sent to a third-party AI provider to generate a response (see Section 4). These aren't linked to your name unless you're signed in at the time.

🎯 2. How I Use It

  • To respond to you — if you use the contact form, your details are used solely to reply to your enquiry.
  • To protect original content — sign-in on AI Tools and Ask the Architect exists to reduce misuse of these AI-powered features and the content behind them, and to prevent automated abuse of the underlying AI service.
  • To understand site usage — aggregate, anonymized analytics help me understand which content and tools are useful, so I can improve them.
  • I do not sell, rent, or share your data with advertisers, and I don't use it to send marketing emails unless you explicitly opt in somewhere (e.g. the newsletter signup, which is separate and only ever used for that).

⚖️ 3. Legal Basis for Processing

For visitors covered by GDPR or similar frameworks, the legal bases relied on are:

  • Consent — for the copyright disclaimer, sign-in, and any newsletter opt-in.
  • Legitimate interest — for basic site analytics and protecting original content/AI usage from abuse, balanced against your privacy interests.
  • Contract/pre-contract steps — if you contact me about a job opportunity or engagement, processing your message is necessary to respond to that request.

🔗 4. Third-Party Services

This site relies on a small number of external services, each with their own privacy practices:

  • Google Analytics (GA4) — website analytics. See Google's Privacy Policy.
  • Google, Microsoft, LinkedIn (sign-in) — if you choose one of these to sign in, that provider authenticates you and shares your email with this site; I don't receive your password.
  • Cloud AI service provider — powers the AI Tools and Ask the Architect. Questions/inputs you submit to these features are sent to a third-party cloud AI provider to generate a response, per that provider's own privacy and data-use policies.
  • Hostinger — this site's web host, storing the underlying files and any database records (e.g. sign-in sessions) on their servers.
  • Hostinger's native PHP mail() — routes contact-form submissions and AI Tools/Ask the Architect sign-in notifications directly to my email. No third-party form service is involved.

🍪 5. Cookies & Session Storage

This site uses minimal, functional storage rather than advertising or tracking cookies:

  • Disclaimer acknowledgment — stored in your browser's local storage so you're not asked to re-agree on every visit within the remember window.
  • Sign-in session — a session cookie that keeps you signed in to AI Tools / Ask the Architect for a limited time after signing in, so you're not asked to sign in again immediately.
  • Google Analytics — sets its own standard analytics cookies; see Google's cookie documentation for detail.

None of these cookies are used for advertising, retargeting, or sold to third parties.

🗄️ 6. Data Retention

  • Contact form submissions — kept as long as needed to respond to and follow up on your enquiry, then deleted periodically.
  • Sign-in sessions — automatically expire after a limited time and are not kept indefinitely; you can also request earlier deletion (see Section 7).
  • Analytics data — retained per Google Analytics' standard retention settings, in aggregate/anonymized form.

🔐 7. Your Rights

Regardless of where you're located, you can ask me to:

  • Access — see what data I hold about you
  • Correct — fix inaccurate information
  • Delete — remove your data, including any sign-in session record
  • Withdraw consent — for anything based on consent (e.g. a newsletter opt-in)

To exercise any of these, email me directly ✉️ — I'll respond directly, as this is an individual's portfolio site, not a company with a dedicated privacy team.

🌍 8. International Visitors (GDPR, DPDP & Others)

This site is accessible globally, and I aim to apply one consistent, privacy-respecting standard to everyone rather than different rules by region:

  • EU/UK visitors (GDPR) — the rights in Section 7 reflect GDPR's access, rectification, erasure, and consent-withdrawal rights.
  • India (DPDP Act, 2023) — the same principles of consent, purpose limitation, and data minimization apply.
  • Other regions — the same practices and rights described here are offered to all visitors as a baseline, regardless of local law.

🧒 9. Children's Privacy

This site is intended for a professional, adult audience (recruiters, hiring managers, and industry peers) and is not directed at children. I don't knowingly collect data from anyone under 16.

📝 10. Changes to This Policy

If this policy changes meaningfully — for example, if a new tool starts collecting different information — this page will be updated and the "Last updated" date at the top will change accordingly.
